This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled bpf: report RCU QS in cpumap kthread to the 6.8-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: bpf-report-rcu-qs-in-cpumap-kthread.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.8 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 6238563a3bf8196ab3aae6a17f5dad5eb8e119db Author: Yan Zhai <yan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue Mar 19 13:44:40 2024 -0700 bpf: report RCU QS in cpumap kthread [ Upstream commit 00bf63122459e87193ee7f1bc6161c83a525569f ] When there are heavy load, cpumap kernel threads can be busy polling packets from redirect queues and block out RCU tasks from reaching quiescent states. It is insufficient to just call cond_resched() in such context. Periodically raise a consolidated RCU QS before cond_resched fixes the problem.
