This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: initialize rates in FW earlier to the 6.7-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: wifi-iwlwifi-mvm-initialize-rates-in-fw-earlier.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.7 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit bbd0259fea7797d1dc674614fd14ed1bce704799 Author: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Sun Jan 28 08:53:58 2024 +0200 wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: initialize rates in FW earlier [ Upstream commit d3b2c6c65bfd3b9616084e91bd0d402964ea7cef ] When connecting to an AP, we currently initialize the rate control only after associating. Since we now use firmware to assign rates to auth/assoc frames rather than using the data in the station and the firmware doesn't know, they're transmitted using low mandatory rates. However, if the AP advertised only higher supported rates we want to use them to be nicer (it still must receive mandatory rates though), so send the information to the firmware earlier to have it know about it and be able to use it.
