This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled media: camss: Convert to platform remove callback returning void to the 6.1-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: media-camss-convert-to-platform-remove-callback-retu.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.1 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit b089e6199aebf25ed1a80f0cbe7f859ba8420836 Author: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Sun Mar 26 16:31:09 2023 +0200 media: camss: Convert to platform remove callback returning void [ Upstream commit 428bbf4be4018aefa26e4d6531779fa8925ecaaf ] The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant.
