This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled spi: zynqmp-gqspi: Convert to platform remove callback returning void to the 6.1-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: spi-zynqmp-gqspi-convert-to-platform-remove-callback.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.1 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit a0dd03214a34d747df5a47cacec49c4693890454 Author: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri Mar 3 18:20:41 2023 +0100 spi: zynqmp-gqspi: Convert to platform remove callback returning void [ Upstream commit 3ffefa1d9c9eba60c7f8b4a9ce2df3e4c7f4a88e ] The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant.
