This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled net: ipv6/addrconf: avoid integer underflow in ipv6_create_tempaddr to the 5.15-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: net-ipv6-addrconf-avoid-integer-underflow-in-ipv6_cr.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.15 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit b102bd8bafa1445ca20701557ee1942efb415c7d Author: Alex Henrie <alexhenrie24@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Aug 31 22:41:27 2023 -0600 net: ipv6/addrconf: avoid integer underflow in ipv6_create_tempaddr [ Upstream commit f31867d0d9d82af757c1e0178b659438f4c1ea3c ] The existing code incorrectly casted a negative value (the result of a subtraction) to an unsigned value without checking. For example, if /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/*/temp_prefered_lft was set to 1, the preferred lifetime would jump to 4 billion seconds. On my machine and network the shortest lifetime that avoided underflow was 3 seconds.
