This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled scsi: qedf: Do not touch __user pointer in qedf_dbg_stop_io_on_error_cmd_read() directly to the 4.14-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: scsi-qedf-do-not-touch-__user-pointer-in-qedf_dbg_st.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.14 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit e47048fd5a21622f516d28178046c98e0e606041 Author: Oleksandr Natalenko <oleksandr@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Mon Jul 31 10:40:32 2023 +0200 scsi: qedf: Do not touch __user pointer in qedf_dbg_stop_io_on_error_cmd_read() directly [ Upstream commit 7d3d20dee4f648ec44e9717d5f647d594d184433 ] The qedf_dbg_stop_io_on_error_cmd_read() function invokes sprintf() directly on a __user pointer, which may crash the kernel. Avoid doing that by using a small on-stack buffer for scnprintf() and then calling simple_read_from_buffer() which does a proper copy_to_user() call.
