This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled drm/i915: Make intel_get_crtc_new_encoder() less oopsy to the 6.2-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: drm-i915-make-intel_get_crtc_new_encoder-less-oopsy.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.2 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit f3789257a1a2512f09ef1abfbfd6edcbabdbf55d Author: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Apr 13 23:06:02 2023 +0300 drm/i915: Make intel_get_crtc_new_encoder() less oopsy [ Upstream commit 631420b06597a33c72b6dcef78d1c2dea17f452d ] The point of the WARN was to print something, not oops straight up. Currently that is precisely what happens if we can't find the connector for the crtc in the atomic state. Get the dev pointer from the atomic state instead of the potentially NULL encoder to avoid that.
