This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled erofs: initialize packed inode after root inode is assigned to the 6.2-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: erofs-initialize-packed-inode-after-root-inode-is-as.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.2 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 1de5b8f1ebc7497da73bbab470b55494d370b62d Author: Jingbo Xu <jefflexu@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri Apr 7 22:17:05 2023 +0800 erofs: initialize packed inode after root inode is assigned [ Upstream commit cb9bce79514392a9a216ff67148e05e2d72c28bd ] As commit 8f7acdae2cd4 ("staging: erofs: kill all failure handling in fill_super()"), move the initialization of packed inode after root inode is assigned, so that the iput() in .put_super() is adequate as the failure handling. Otherwise, iput() is also needed in .kill_sb(), in case of the mounting fails halfway.
