This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled tcp: convert elligible sysctls to u8 to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: tcp-convert-elligible-sysctls-to-u8.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 87d6780bf2fa3632b925497a56017a08e237ac77 Author: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Mar 25 11:08:17 2021 -0700 tcp: convert elligible sysctls to u8 [ Upstream commit 4ecc1baf362c5df2dcabe242511e38ee28486545 ] Many tcp sysctls are either bools or small ints that can fit into u8. Reducing space taken by sysctls can save few cache line misses when sending/receiving data while cpu caches are empty, for example after cpu idle period. This is hard to measure with typical network performance tests, but after this patch, struct netns_ipv4 has shrunk by three cache lines.
