This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled media: uvcvideo: Silence memcpy() run-time false positive warnings to the 5.15-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: media-uvcvideo-silence-memcpy-run-time-false-positiv.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.15 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 7ef1d1d7ef2e8b0da972a4fa57d916aef5e7c6ef Author: Kees Cook <keescook@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Jan 5 22:17:04 2023 -0800 media: uvcvideo: Silence memcpy() run-time false positive warnings [ Upstream commit b839212988575c701aab4d3d9ca15e44c87e383c ] The memcpy() in uvc_video_decode_meta() intentionally copies across the length and flags members and into the trailing buf flexible array. Split the copy so that the compiler can better reason about (the lack of) buffer overflows here. Avoid the run-time false positive warning: memcpy: detected field-spanning write (size 12) of single field "&meta->length" at drivers/media/usb/uvc/uvc_video.c:1355 (size 1) Additionally fix a typo in the documentation for struct uvc_meta_buf.
