This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled wifi: rtl8xxxu: don't call dev_kfree_skb() under spin_lock_irqsave() to the 5.15-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: wifi-rtl8xxxu-don-t-call-dev_kfree_skb-under-spin_lo.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.15 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit f7049f671db3193b68632705bf6b97066c82c926 Author: Yang Yingliang <yangyingliang@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Dec 8 22:35:17 2022 +0800 wifi: rtl8xxxu: don't call dev_kfree_skb() under spin_lock_irqsave() [ Upstream commit 4c2005ac87685907b3719b4f40215b578efd27c4 ] It is not allowed to call kfree_skb() or consume_skb() from hardware interrupt context or with hardware interrupts being disabled. It should use dev_kfree_skb_irq() or dev_consume_skb_irq() instead. The difference between them is free reason, dev_kfree_skb_irq() means the SKB is dropped in error and dev_consume_skb_irq() means the SKB is consumed in normal. In this case, dev_kfree_skb() is called to free and drop the SKB when it's shutdown, so replace it with dev_kfree_skb_irq(). Compile tested only.
