This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled vhost: fix range used in translate_desc() to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: vhost-fix-range-used-in-translate_desc.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 1d66f3722bf0492cb75c49cdaf3f6888a18ffa18 Author: Stefano Garzarella <sgarzare@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Nov 9 11:25:03 2022 +0100 vhost: fix range used in translate_desc() [ Upstream commit 98047313cdb46828093894d0ac8b1183b8b317f9 ] vhost_iotlb_itree_first() requires `start` and `last` parameters to search for a mapping that overlaps the range. In translate_desc() we cyclically call vhost_iotlb_itree_first(), incrementing `addr` by the amount already translated, so rightly we move the `start` parameter passed to vhost_iotlb_itree_first(), but we should hold the `last` parameter constant. Let's fix it by saving the `last` parameter value before incrementing `addr` in the loop.
