This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled ice: set tx_tstamps when creating new Tx rings via ethtool to the 6.0-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: ice-set-tx_tstamps-when-creating-new-tx-rings-via-et.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.0 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit bf0389418811046e22c4d81561f33ffca444e28d Author: Jacob Keller <jacob.e.keller@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Jul 27 16:15:57 2022 -0700 ice: set tx_tstamps when creating new Tx rings via ethtool [ Upstream commit b3b173745c8cab1e24d6821488b60abed3acb24d ] When the user changes the number of queues via ethtool, the driver allocates new rings. This allocation did not initialize tx_tstamps. This results in the tx_tstamps field being zero (due to kcalloc allocation), and would result in a NULL pointer dereference when attempting a transmit timestamp on the new ring.
