This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled powerpc/pseries: wire up rng during setup_arch() to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: powerpc-pseries-wire-up-rng-during-setup_arch.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From e561e472a3d441753bd012333b057f48fef1045b Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "Jason A. Donenfeld" <Jason@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Sat, 11 Jun 2022 17:10:15 +0200 Subject: powerpc/pseries: wire up rng during setup_arch() From: Jason A. Donenfeld <Jason@xxxxxxxxx> commit e561e472a3d441753bd012333b057f48fef1045b upstream. The platform's RNG must be available before random_init() in order to be useful for initial seeding, which in turn means that it needs to be called from setup_arch(), rather than from an init call. Fortunately, each platform already has a setup_arch function pointer, which means it's easy to wire this up. This commit also removes some noisy log messages that don't add much.
