This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled net/ncsi: check for error return from call to nla_put_u32 to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: net-ncsi-check-for-error-return-from-call-to-nla_put.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit ba77e118888c960d02bc5ef73ebb2eee52c8c1fa Author: Jiasheng Jiang <jiasheng@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Dec 29 11:21:18 2021 +0800 net/ncsi: check for error return from call to nla_put_u32 [ Upstream commit 92a34ab169f9eefe29cd420ce96b0a0a2a1da853 ] As we can see from the comment of the nla_put() that it could return -EMSGSIZE if the tailroom of the skb is insufficient. Therefore, it should be better to check the return value of the nla_put_u32 and return the error code if error accurs. Also, there are many other functions have the same problem, and if this patch is correct, I will commit a new version to fix all.
