This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled sh_eth: Avoid memcpy() over-reading of ETH_SS_STATS to the 5.4-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: sh_eth-avoid-memcpy-over-reading-of-eth_ss_stats.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.4 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 19f83ba2e4282dc3dead56217ce48880ddd46f9d Author: Kees Cook <keescook@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Jun 16 12:53:33 2021 -0700 sh_eth: Avoid memcpy() over-reading of ETH_SS_STATS [ Upstream commit 224004fbb033600715dbd626bceec10bfd9c58bc ] In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time field bounds checking for memcpy(), memmove(), and memset(), avoid intentionally reading across neighboring array fields. The memcpy() is copying the entire structure, not just the first array. Adjust the source argument so the compiler can do appropriate bounds checking.
