This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled powerpc/8xx: Fix software emulation interrupt to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: powerpc-8xx-fix-software-emulation-interrupt.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 6aadbbc6ca27fdc6685893a4b6200448859b9340 Author: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri Feb 5 08:56:13 2021 +0000 powerpc/8xx: Fix software emulation interrupt [ Upstream commit 903178d0ce6bb30ef80a3604ab9ee2b57869fbc9 ] For unimplemented instructions or unimplemented SPRs, the 8xx triggers a "Software Emulation Exception" (0x1000). That interrupt doesn't set reason bits in SRR1 as the "Program Check Exception" does. Go through emulation_assist_interrupt() to set REASON_ILLEGAL.
