This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled powerpc/tau: Remove duplicated set_thresholds() call to the 4.4-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: powerpc-tau-remove-duplicated-set_thresholds-call.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.4 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit f19c40c22a8f5c918a0a00d0a5470fb9385e4307 Author: Finn Thain <fthain@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Sat Sep 5 09:02:20 2020 +1000 powerpc/tau: Remove duplicated set_thresholds() call [ Upstream commit 420ab2bc7544d978a5d0762ee736412fe9c796ab ] The commentary at the call site seems to disagree with the code. The conditional prevents calling set_thresholds() via the exception handler, which appears to crash. Perhaps that's because it immediately triggers another TAU exception. Anyway, calling set_thresholds() from TAUupdate() is redundant because tau_timeout() does so.
