This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled powerpc/watchpoint: Fix handling of vector instructions to the 5.9-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: powerpc-watchpoint-fix-handling-of-vector-instructio.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.9 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 34c76eb3a67016198a74fd9f8fd17c56bce9205a Author: Ravi Bangoria <ravi.bangoria@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Sep 2 09:59:39 2020 +0530 powerpc/watchpoint: Fix handling of vector instructions [ Upstream commit 4441eb02333a9b46a0d919aa7a6d3b137b5f2562 ] Vector load/store instructions are special because they are always aligned. Thus unaligned EA needs to be aligned down before comparing it with watch ranges. Otherwise we might consider valid event as invalid.
