user pref file format

Whats is the format of the user's pref file ? I am interested in the mail filter portion of it.

filter5=<email_header>,<pattern>,<folder>

I so far figure what each field is for. I would like to combine the pattern to avoid having to repeat the same filter for the same box. For example.

filter10=From, george.bush@xxxxxxxxx, republicans

filter11= From, john.mccain@xxxxxxxxx, republicans
