You are right.I've just checked that reading that email with SM 1.4.4 pointing to the other imap server it works.
Technical data about imap servers:
The one Rfc compliant is imap-2002d-14.el4.rpm package on RHEL4up4the other is cyrus-imapd-2.2.12-8.1.RHEL4.rpm  package on RHEL4up6
well, I don't think I wll do any changes...
