Did you move from 32bit to 64bit OS?

yes, new server is x86_64 :-)

known to be different and I've seen a patch to change it back to the
old hash.

ok thanks for pointing me this,
i found the patch for computeHashDirs function in prefs.php
ref : (Tracker #2596879) "Ensure that hash directory computation is the same on both 32 and 64 bit architectures".
