Oh, duh.  The plugin is specifically coded for IE 5.5+ and Mozilla
1.4+ (Gecko 20030624+).  Chrome would have to masquerade as one of
them or be hard-coded into the plugin in places like:

      if ($javascript_on && (($browser == 'Explorer' && $browserVersion >= 5.5)
                          || ($browser == 'Gecko' && $browserVersion
