Is this the real url?  If so, then /usr/share/squirrelmail is not the
root directory, it's just the alias /webmail.  The root directory will
be somewhere else, probably defined by the "DocumentRoot" entry in
your apache configuration.  Your browser is likely requesting
/favicon.ico, which puts it outside of SM.
