SquirrelMail creates folders in /home/user instead of /home/user/mail

Running CentOS 5.2
SquirrelMail 1.4.8
uw-imap-2007b
php 5.1.6

I am having an issue with SquirrelMail creating all my mail folders in /home/user instead of /home/user/mail.   I've tried the uw preset and have set the Default Folder Prefix to mail/   I am not sure why it still creates the folders in /home/user.    Does anyone know how to get this to work?    I've searched google and the entire squirrelmail site.  I am not finding anything very helpful.

If you need more information, please let me know.

Thank you,

Jaysen
