Try a file such as:

if ( get_magic_quotes_runtime())
echo "magic_quotes_runtime is on
";
if (get_magic_quotes_gpc())
echo "magic_quotes_gpc is on
";
if ( (bool) ini_get('magic_quotes_sybase') &&
ini_get('magic_quotes_sybase') != 'off' )
echo "magic_quotes_sybase is on
";

?>

Try it in the SM main directory, and in the src directory for kicks.
