I’ve   squirrelmail running on a Debian server.I created a global.abook on the data directory.I run squirrelmail-configure.On the menu I choose  (6.) for Address Books. Then I choose (4.) Allow writing into global file address book. The default option is false. Changing it to true I can add new address to global address book.If editing manually each entry should have the following format:
Nickname|First_name|Last_name|mail_address|
Check the file permissions.
