Sounds like an unnecessary line feed may be being sent, what browser are you using and does it happen across different browsers?

Thank you, but the problem still persists. The difference of the image
saved in Pine (Pine connects by IMAP, so it can't be dovecot error ! )
and in SquirrelMail is in the first byte:
Here is the file from Pine: ff d8 ff e0 00 10 4a .....
And from SM: 0a ff d8 ff e0 00 10 4a .....
So the first byte is wrong.
