Edit functions/db_prefs.php, find the line that looks like this:

var $user_field = 'user';

(~line 94 in 1.4.10), (~line 101 in 1.5.2) and change it to 'owner',
then both tables are the same.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to pull these into the configuration system
that is being rebuilt.
