The SquirrelMail team does not recommend the 1.5.x series of SquirrelMail for use in a production environment. It may work. It may break in minor ways. It may run rampant, devouring your server, seducing your wife, and getting you fired. If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces. 1.5 is in constant development and therefore what works now may not work tomorrow. Many plugins that worked with 1.4 may not work with 1.5 without modification. If you wish to provide 1.5 as an alternative, you can do a parallel install while keeping your 1.4 stable installation intact and usable. Keep good backups, as always.
