SquirrelMail is an IMAP client and not an IMAP server. Modern fast imap servers cache relevant info like bodystructures, flags and certain headers. That makes certain imap servers very fast. You can not beat the performance of imap servers if you have to process everything in php. A lot of parsing is involved and a lot of extra functionality is needed to provide the functionality as mentioned in the IMAP specification. There is also a security issue. You don't want that your http user has read/write access to all the mail. Regards, Marc Groot Koerkamp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
