This bug occurs when I ...

... try to use pupdate (plugin update plugin)

The description of the bug:

The plugin is enabled. The README and INSTALL files aren't very clear as to what must
be done. They appear in an unusual place under pupdate/docs/. That means the admin
plugin doesn't see the README. I don't know what to expect sfter it has been enabled.
INSTALL says "Edit the admin.php file and put your username there (leave the #)"

There is no such file "admin.php" anywhere. There is the file
/usr/share/squirrelmail/config/admins though:

[root@Beaker docs]# cat /usr/share/squirrelmail/config/admins
paul

<=== note the blanks lines, somewhere I read this was needed.

[root@Beaker docs]#

When I opened that file the first time, there was no # to leave there.

Maybe there really should be a file named "admin.php"?

The INSTALL file also says:

" As of this point, this plugin is unsupport by all the others, so you may ha ve to
add support manually
by adding one small file to the root of each plugin directory (try looki
ng at the one in this directory).
This file just consists of the plugin name (has to be the same as in my
pluginlist.txt file, which is the
same name as they have on the site) and on the next line, the version nu
mber. (It will automatically
create this file for you now)"

1) there is no such file in "this directory" but there is a file in the parent
directory ../version having the following text:

[root@Beaker docs]# cat ../version
Plugin Updates
0.7

checking a few other plugin directories for this file:

[root@Beaker docs]# ls -l ../../*/version
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 14 Jul 31 2003 ../../admin_add/version
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 42 Apr 7 2005 ../../attachment_doc/version -rw-r--r-- 1
root root 20 Nov 11 2005 ../../compatibility/version -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 17 Mar
11 2003 ../../file_manager/version -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23 Sep 24 2004
../../get_uuencode/version -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18 Oct 15 2005
../../html_mail/version
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Feb 23 2004 ../../pupdate/version
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18 Mar 13 2005 ../../reply_buttons/version -rw-r--r-- 1 root
root 26 Jun 29 2005 ../../squirrel_logger/version -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23 Jan 28
2006 ../../unsafe_image_rules/version -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23 Jun 13 2005
../../view_as_html/version

So, some of the plugins I use have that file. INSTALL says "it will automatically
create this file for you"

So, what do I need to do to make this plugin work?

I can reproduce the bug by:Huh? Nothing happens. Plugin is installed, configuration
instructions are somewhat vague and have noted errors. Without making a study of the
code, I don't know what to expect - an e-mail telling me to update specific plugins?
Auto download and install them? What?
