Problem with Seeing Mail over web

My company uses squirrelmail as a means of being able to check email over the internet when traveling.  The problem is when I log into squirrelmail via the internet there are no messages in my inbox.  I am using Microsoft Outlook 2003 as a means of retrieving my mail when I am working at the house and it seems to be fine.   Can anyone explain to me why it is not sending my emails into squirrelmail as well?  Thanks in advance for your help.
