Running SquirrelMail 1.4.6 at <a href="http://www.site5.com/";>Site5</a> on
CentOS 4 Linux. I think the only plugin I'm currently using is Unsafe
Image Rules.

Starting several versions ago, logging in was intermittent. It would
display the, "You must be logged in" error page. It almost always took
two or three tries. But rarely more than three or four. I've just been
living with it.

Over the last couple of months, after I've successfully logged in I've
noticed that SquirrelMail has been very sluggish. My webhost's
installation of v1.4.4 is quite snappy.

This last week, I can't log in at all. After clicking the login button,
IE says the page cannot be displayed. Firefox pops up a Save As dialog
box.

I noticed a very large number of temp files in the data directory. I
removed all of the obviously-temp files, leaving the .pref, .abook,
.htaccess, index.php. That did not change the behavior.

I've searched around and haven't been able to find anyone else describing
these symptoms with this version.

Any suggestions on how to attack this?

TIA,
Drake
