Fixed it, Tomas.

Apparently the update installed a config.local.php that contains 
bad php code.  Looks like this -

<?php

?>

$default_folder_prefix = '';

==========

Bad, bad code.  Fixed the code and the problem went away.

Also, the nightly yum update *was* turned on.  The button in system-
config-services wasn't pressed but the daemon was still running.  
Shut it off for good with sysconfig.
