Squirrelmail and IMAPS connection problems, redux

hey all-

so having sorted the difference between STARTTLS and TLS(SSL), and
gotten the whole shebang working in squirrelmail-1.5.x with PHP5, I've
now realized that i need to go /back/ to PHP 4.4.2 to support a myriad
of existing PHP 4 apps on the same server. so, given that, here's my
dilemma:

when attempting a login, i get the following error:

ERROR
Error connecting to IMAP server: tls://my.imaps.server.
0 : Unknown error: 0

I'm running FreebSD 6.1-STABLE. I'm attempting to connect to a remote
Dovecot IMAPS server. I'm running squirrelmail-1.4.6, along with PHP
4.4.2 and lighttpd 1.4.11 from ports. php extensions include openssl,
imap, gettext, et al.

squirrelmail settings look like:

4. IMAP Server : my.imaps.server
5. IMAP Port : 993
6. Authentication type : login
7. Secure IMAP (TLS) : true
8. Server software : other
9. Delimiter : detect

i'm not attempting STARTTLS for connection now, i just want to use IMAPS
on port 993. What's the trick here?

thanks,
darren david

Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
Get stuff done quickly with pre-integrated technology to make your job easier
Download IBM WebSphere Application Server v.1.0.1 based on Apache Geronimo
