Some IMAP servers disable the use of plaintext logins to help prevent
the usernames and passwords from being intercepted over the network.

As you didn't give any details about your setup, I can't give you
directions on how to fix it.  Given this info, you should be able to do
the research though.

SquirrelMail is an IMAP client, and thus has no concept of user
security.  It just passes the username and password that the user
supplies at the login page to the IMAP server.  Figure out how to add
users to whatever IMAP server you use and you'll be set.
