WebSockets is only supported in so far as it is rejected in the manner to correctly trigger WebSockets failover mechnism. That goes for Squid-5 as well.
The upcoming Squid-6 brings HTTP Upgrade support to allow WebSockets to tunnel through a proxy much like HTTPS. That has not had much testing yet though so YMMV.
