You have six lines in your squid.conf: cache_dir rock /hdd1 ... min-size=100000 cache_dir rock /ssd1 ... max-size=99999 cache_dir rock /hdd2 ... min-size=100000 cache_dir rock /ssd2 ... max-size=99999 cache_dir rock /hdd3 ... min-size=100000 cache_dir rock /ssd3 ... max-size=99999 Those lines do not make sense. I do not know whether you really do have directories /hdd1, /ssd1 etc on your machine, but even if you have, the "..." is wrong. The correct format for configuring the rock store cache is (as documented a little higher up in squid.conf): # cache_dir rock Directory-Name Mbytes [options] Therefore you must change those six lines to have the correct format. Alternatively you could just delete them, because you also have: cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 100 16 256 which is almost certainly going to work (even if it gives you a very small cache).
