Kerberos is most secure and Negotiate/Kerberos solves a fair chunk of the NTLM problems. So it is usually the Best Current Practice, but... It can be a learning curve to get it going, and can add problems if there are software on the network that insists on using the Negotiate/NTLM auth variant. So sometimes it turns out other forms of Proxy-Auth is best.
