Well if you are wanting to keep RHEL support and okay with moving to RHEL 6 or 7, the Squid 3.3 packages in one of those should be fixed versions IIRC. The process to upgrade is then the usual RHEL process. Along with the manual squid.conf checking afterwards just to be sure. NP: From recent talks with the RHEL maintainer they are going to provide squid-3.5 backport packages soon'ish. Though I'm not clear on exactly what RHEL versions that would be for yet, or the ETA. Or if you want to move to what RHEL describe there as "the community version".
