Should I just wait for resolution? Ouch. Passing this on to Luigi. The replacement package is stuck in sid/unstable behind the Debian GCC-5 migration which has a bit of an indeterminate timeline. If you have the ability to build the squid3 source package that might be the best way forward IMHO. The resulting custom build will depend on whatever nettle is on your system. That would be "apt-get --build source squid3" then dpkg --install the appropriate resulting *.deb files you want (starting with the squid3-common).
