Umm, your email address is "proxyplayer.co.uk". That isn't some kind of
anonymizing service is it? Google will force Captcha onto anyone using
their services that come from a known proxy network (such as Tor), so
could that be the reason?


I don't think that's the reason as with another server with 2.6 it works fine with Google.
It's only since the upgrade of squid so must be something in the config.
