If you alter the packets in any way with iptables before they reach Squid that is "interception" the the altered details immediately become unreliable. Also note, * Squid is perfectly capable of listening on up to 63 different ports without trouble. With patching that can be increased. * Mapping many ports down to one or few ports reduces the TCP connection receiving capacity of all the ports down to the capacity of the one (or few) actual listening ports.
