first time poster/e mailer.

here is what I want to do. I understand there are about a dozen ways to do
this. that is why i need a little guidance.

this is for my home network. I have many family members from age 6 to 46
that all use in Internet and printer. there are several operating systems.
windows7 & 8, Linux, android tablets, android phones, ipads, ipods, and im
sure im forgetting some thing.

I have a squid3.1.19 running on a small system runing headless ubuntu
install.

I want to implement a SSO but after days and maybe weeks of reading. I am a
little more confused than when I started. so I am going to ask or list the
things I want to do and maybe some of you can guide me in the right
direction?

I want a SSO. (I was planing to use LDAP with samba.)
squid
dansgardian
lighttpd

the goals for this config=

1 single sign on
2 mulitble filter groups based on username
3 everyone should have access to printers

I have a 6 year old that showed me on his moms ipad “ look dad I can do a
web search for batman”. which is great! but it could have been a whole
different story if he had misspelled batman to something like buttman..

after doing all this reading. I understand that squid might be about to
handle the SSO duties? but i am having some doubts because of all the IOS
stuff thats on my network(I personally dont like the apple products but many
family members do) that is leading me to what to use samba. is this wrong
thinking?

is an illistartion of what I thought I was going to do.. before I started
reading to try to educate myself.
