I know many squid installations in schools, with about 200 ... 500  
clients and about 500 ... 2000 pupils using "the internet" (only for  
educational purposes - surely!).

There I have reduced this part of the entry to "8 256", and "4 256" may  
be enough in (nearly) all cases too. The "disk_cache" is set to about 1  
... 2 GByte.

Please remember: that's a cache, no archive.
