Well you cannot know until you check it in more depth..
cnn... is a site which uses a javascript to build the layout which is
the main issue with it.
There are many sites who do that same trick and you might be using them.
if you are using firefox the first thing to do is try start firefox in
safe-mode.
after you try this try to launch it with firebug to make sure what
object is the problem.
it might be a JS thing or another issue not related to squid that you
are indeed imagining or do not have the right angle on the problem.

I also used 3.3.7 with ssl_crtd which works fine with bumping and other
stuff and it seems to me like the source of the problem is one of couple
but could be other:
1. browser or addons.
2. network
3. kernel

In gentoo many things are possible in the kernel level if you are
updating all the time but it's weird to think in this direction since
most of them are stable.
network is easy to check using wget curl firebug and other basic tools.
the same thing about browser.. chrome and firefox has nice tools that
allows you to understand the source of the problem without getting
tcpdump output.

Hope it helps,
Eliezer

P.S. feel free to try couple things and comeback with the results.
