Apart from different IP or port and separate cachedirs, do I need
anything else to run squid 2.6 and 3.3 in parallel?

I need 2.6 to support url rewriting and I would like to enable IPv6,
hence 3.3.
Lookup url_rewrite_program and url_rewrite_access in Squid-3.

Oops, what I need is 'storeurl_rewrite_program'. According to the doc,
that is still 2.7-only ?

http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/storeurl_rewrite_program/

That directive is for the squid-2.7 version of the feature.

If you are happy to run 3.HEAD code there is a port of that feature in Squid-3 now called store-ID.
