You might run into OS buffer flushing, journal writes etc.

Have a look at these options. Will signifivantly  improove overall
performance, at least. 
Con: Will drop some availability features. But because disks are quite
reliable, I do not consider this harmful.

noatime,barrier=0,journal_async_commit,noauto_da_alloc,nobh,data=writeback,commit=10
