You probably are not using squid for anything noteworthy if you think reconfiguring every minute is not causing problems and is alright.

And here comes the good part: You have been living a lie all these years but light is ahead.

You will be able to improve your system, increase your rps, throughput and all with one very simple thing: By not sending a reconfigure to squid every minute! :)
